Honor

A hand shake where upon shaking the others hand
You lick your own
Licking a foot like those jackasses
Is so much respect in parts of the world
Only to be blessed upon the action
Kissing a hand of a woman or man
Is so much respect in parts of the world
With no idea where that hand has been
When a man kisses a woman
Is so much respect in parts of the world
With no idea where her mouth has been
And then we realize that we eat meat
Vegetarians who eat the food from the earth
Covered in dirt and then washed
With water from a sink
Vegetarians how civilized they are
In a town just over there
There are no sinks
There are streams
There are no waffles
There is meat
There are no clothes to keep warm
There is animal fur
Clothes how civilized we are
There is a stream close by
With bugs floating in the water
Then you take a sip
Refreshing your heart
Hungry you begin to eat what you can find
Freezing you begin to wear what you can
Americans how civilized we are
As we protest the things we protest
We forget there are people who drink out of streams
Who dont have stores to buy clothes
Who by all means
They do what they can to survive
To survive with the resources they have
How intelligent they are
We should all lick their feet
But yet we sit in chairs
And type on computers
And drink clean water
And have clothes to keep us warm
How civilized we are
Civilized enough to write a poem
Expressing the tone
Of that town over there
If you dont have to wear fur from animals
Dont wear fur from animals
If you dont have to drink from a stream
Dont drink from a stream
So be civilized act civilized talk civilized
Help others civilize
Protest for others to be civilized
As I smoke a cigarette at a coffee shop
After eating a burger for breakfast
And passing a store with furs from around the world
I see something floating in my coffee
I look closely and to my surprise
Its one little coffee grind
How civilized we are
But dont forget
How intelligent they are
